Who we are
Ripple Water Solutions (“Ripple”, “we”, “us”) makes irrigation controllers, soil moisture probes, gateways and related devices, together with the software that runs them. This policy explains what information those products collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions go to support@ripplews.com.
What we collect
| Information | Where it comes from | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Your email address, name, password (stored only as a hash), and optional phone number, entered when you create or edit your account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address and an anonymous account identifier from them instead of a password. | To sign you in, secure your account, and reach you about your service — including password-reset codes sent by email or text message when you ask for one. |
| Property address | The address you enter for your property. | To look up local weather and your time zone so schedules and weather rules run correctly. We convert the address to map coordinates for this. |
| Device data | Sent automatically by your Ripple devices: soil moisture and temperature readings, battery and signal levels, zone activity, firmware version, and each device’s hardware identifier. | To show you what your system is doing, run your schedules and moisture rules, keep a history of runs and readings, and deliver firmware updates. |
| Probe locations | A probe’s position on your property map — placed by you, or reported by a probe that has its own GPS receiver. | To draw your probes on the course map in the app and portal. |
| Your location (app) | Only when you allow it, and only while the app is open. | To center the map on where you are. It is not stored on our servers and is never used for advertising. |
| Bluetooth | Used by the app to set up a new Ripple device nearby. | To send your Wi-Fi details and a device key to the device during setup. Nothing from Bluetooth is collected about you. |
| Push notifications | A device token from Apple or Google, if you turn notifications on. | To send you alerts about your system. You can turn this off in your phone’s settings at any time. |
| Technical logs | Standard server logs: IP address, request times, and the type of device or browser. | To keep the service secure and reliable and to diagnose problems. |
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
- We do not use advertising networks, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- The Ripple app contains no third-party analytics or advertising software.
When we share information
- Your irrigation company, if you choose. If you link your account to a management company using your connection key, that company can see your system, readings, schedules and issues, and can change settings on your behalf. You can unlink at any time from your account settings, which ends their access.
- Service providers that host our servers, deliver email and text messages, and provide weather data. They process information only to provide those services for us.
- Apple and Google receive a push-notification token if you enable notifications.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of Ripple, our customers, or others.
How we protect it
All traffic between the app, the portal, your devices and our servers is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Each Ripple device signs the readings it sends with its own private key, so readings cannot be forged or altered in transit. Sessions expire automatically, and you can sign out of every session by changing your password.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and device data for as long as your account is active, because your history is part of the service. Sensor readings and run history are used to show trends over time. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information and disconnect your devices; anonymous, aggregated statistics may be retained.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct your account details in the app or portal at any time.
- Remove a device from your account from its settings; this also resets the device.
- Delete your account in the Ripple app under More → Account → Delete account, or by emailing support@ripplews.com from the address on the account. Deletion is immediate: your account and settings are removed and your devices are released so they can be set up by someone else.
- Location and notifications are controlled from your phone’s settings.
- If you live somewhere with data-protection laws that give you additional rights, such as access, portability or objection, contact us and we will honor them.
Children
Ripple is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
